What are Land Claims?

The Land Claims system allows you to protect your builds and valuable areas from other players. By creating a claim, you designate an area of land where only you, and those you grant permission, can build, break, or interact.

How to Access Land Claims Features

For managing your claims and accessing other settings, open the Community Panel by running !b or !book in chat. Once the Community Panel opens, locate "Land Claims".

To create a new claim, you will use specific chat commands, as detailed below.

Claiming Your Land

To create a new land claim, you will use two commands to mark the corners of the area you want to protect:

  1. Start Your Claim:

    • Go to one corner of the area you want to protect.
    • Type !claimland start in chat. You will receive a confirmation message.
  2. End Your Claim:

    • Walk or fly to the opposite diagonal corner of the area you want to protect.
    • Type !claimland end in chat.
    • The system will then show you the size of the claim you are trying to make and its cost (if claiming land has a cost on this server).
    • You will be asked to confirm if you wish to proceed with creating the claim. Confirm to finalize your protected area.

Land Claims Menu Options (for Players)

Once you have created claims, or for managing existing ones, open the Community Panel (!b or !book) and select "Land Claims" to access the "Owner Menu". You will typically see these main options:

  • Manage Your Claims: View, modify settings, or delete your existing claims.
  • View Other Players' Claims: If enabled by server administrators, you might be able to see information about other players' claims.

Manage Your Claims

This section allows you to oversee all the land claims you own.

  • List Your Claims: You will see a list of all your active claims, often identified by their coordinates or a custom name if you can set one.
  • Claim Details: Select a specific claim to see its information, such as its size, creation date, and current permissions.
  • Edit Permissions: Grant or revoke specific permissions to other players or friends for this claim. This includes:
    • Build: Allows them to place and break blocks within your claim.
    • Open Containers: Allows them to open chests, furnaces, etc., within your claim.
    • Interact: Allows them to interact with certain blocks (like doors, buttons) within your claim.
  • Transfer Ownership: If enabled, you might be able to transfer ownership of a claim to another player.
  • Delete Claim: Permanently remove your claim. All protections for that area will be removed.

View Other Players' Claims (if enabled)

If this option is available, you might be able to:

  • See a list of other players' claims.
  • Potentially view their public permissions or descriptions of their claims.
  • Note: You cannot modify other players' claims.

Understanding Your Claims

Claim Protection

Once an area is claimed, it becomes protected. This means:

  • No unauthorized building/breaking: Only you (and players you've added permissions for) can place or break blocks inside your claim.
  • No unauthorized interactions: Others cannot open your chests, use your crafting tables, or interact with doors and other blocks within your claim unless you specifically grant them permission.
  • TNT Protection: Claims are typically protected from TNT explosions, meaning TNT will not destroy blocks within your claim.

Claim Permissions

When you grant permissions, you are giving specific access rights within that particular claim. Be careful who you give permissions to, as they will be able to modify your claim according to the permissions you set.

Claim Size and Cost

Claims have a maximum size, and there might be a cost associated with creating them, especially for larger areas. The cost is usually per block, and you will be informed of this when using the !claimland end command.

Important Notes

Claim Limits

There's often a limit to how many claims a single player can own. Check with your server's administration for specific limits.

Proximity to Other Claims/Spawn

You may not be able to create a claim too close to another existing claim or too close to the world spawn point, as these areas are often protected or reserved.

Claim Flags

In addition to general permissions, some claims might have "flags" that control specific behaviors, such as whether PVP is allowed or if hostile mobs can spawn. These advanced settings are usually managed by administrators.
